The ancient wines of ACRONEO in Calabria
Calabria is a region that can boast an ancient and prestigious tradition concerning the production of wine. In ancient times it was called Enotria from the name of the ancient people, led by King Enotro, came from Arcadia seventeen generations before the Trojan war, as Dionysius of Halicarnass tells us. The agriculture at the Enotri was already developed and the vine was existing, as evidenced by their name, which in Greek, designates the vineyard stake. Famous in the myth were the vineyards cultivated by this ancient people in Calabria, an ancestral homeland of wine. Still during the period of Magna Graecia and then throughout the Roman era, the wines produced in the Bruttium (name used by the Romans to indicate Calabria) were considered excellent.
The production of the ACRONE wine is a result of a careful study of the literary, iconography and archaeological sources. Every aspect is studied in detail to reconstruct this ancient winemaking process... It is experimental archeology that makes these ancient wines new again.

For generations the Bafaro family have been producing the wine they drink. Exotic wines, innovative experiments and unusual combinations are part of everyday life. Red, White and any other type is what the generations of our family have in common. The search for the best grapes, the most secret “recipe” and the unique flavor. It is in this context, on an international scene, where niche wine has now carved out its living spaces, that it was decided to create what for us is the symbol of excellence, the pinnacle of historical research in the oenological field. Francesco Gabriele Bafaro, career archaeologist, winemaker by vocation, is the creator and founder of this archaeological oenological company. This family-run structure, however, could not do without supporting elements such as Raffaele Bafaro, expert for decades in the field of winemaking. Maria Fusaro, who never misses the right delicacy to suggest in tasting the Acroneo. Each time offers new expe- riences to the palate of the lucky taster. Gaia Bafaro who, with his art and knowledge, makes the creation of this product inextricably linked to the family heritage of wisdom, culture and tradition.
The Bafaro family utilizes ancient techniques and aging in amphora to create wines that are both historic and modern
